I’ve always judged the sport of golf as sexist and classist, and I resented the hold it had on my late mother. Half of the journals she left me were filled with hand-drawn diagrams of holes, post-lesson notes on swings, plans for her golf manuscript, laments about being a woman in a man’s world. ‘Titleist Pro V1’ is my effort to inhabit the terrain of my arch-nemesis golf to explore the depths of my disdain.

Jenny Hedley is a neurodiverse writer, Writeability mentor and PhD student whose work appears in Archer, Cordite, Diagram, Mascara, Overland, TEXT, The Suburban Review, Verity La, Westerly, and the anthologies Admissions: Voices in Mental Health and Verge.
