Cross the border
Anita Solak
Artist note:
This piece is about the borders I’ve crossed in the Balkans, chain pushbacks throughout the EU, borders through the eyes of animals, and the accretion of stories at borders. The piece includes timed pop-ups, mouse actions, input fields, and more to generate, conceal, and reveal poetic language exploring errantry, migration, and borders. It is meant to be overwhelming. It is meant to keep changing. The rules and experiences at borders vary depending on who tries to cross them but the stories remain.
Artist bio:

Anita Solak is a poet and electronic literature artist living on unceded Wurundjeri land. Her writing can be found in Cordite, Going Down Swinging, and The Suburban Review, among others. She was a 2023 Wheeler Centre Hot Desk Fellow, shortlisted for the 2023 Judith Wright Poetry Prize, and studied at the School for Poetic Computation in 2024. Her practice is informed by her love of details, collective memory, and the failures of language.
